NSXplus is a hub for exploring the intersection of retro computing and modern programming.
Here, you’ll find tutorials, source code, game development experiments, and insights into classic 8-bit systems. I also compete in Game Jams and welcome anyone who would like to collaborate.
What You’ll Find Here
- Source Code & Downloads – Explore free projects, small games, and experimental code.
- Game Development Experiments – From tiny retro-style games to larger hobby projects.
- Tech Blog Posts – Tips, insights, and commentary on programming and retro computing.
About Me
My name is Nikki X, and I’m a passionate programmer exploring both modern development and retro computing.
I enjoy experimenting with classic systems, building small games, and sharing what I learn along the way. My goal with this site is to document projects, discoveries, and tutorials that bridge the gap between vintage hardware and modern programming.
NSX stands for Nostalgic Software eXperiments. (It’s also the initials to my full name)
The “plus” is inspired by the MSX2+ computer system, a platform I hope to develop for as part of my retro programming journey.
My interest in vintage computing really took off after watching the TV series Halt and Catch Fire, which sent me down a rabbit hole of classic technology from the 1980s through the early 2000s. Since then, I’ve explored everything from early home computers to old development environments and retro programming techniques.
I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of creating games for classic systems like the NES and the Sega Dreamcast. After learning about development kits and the homebrew communities surrounding these platforms, I knew it was something I wanted to try myself. Although I didn’t get the chance to seriously pursue it until around 2020, that curiosity never went away.
Now I’m finally diving in.
Through NSXplus, I want to share that journey—experimenting with retro platforms, learning new programming techniques, and building projects inspired by the systems that helped shape modern computing.
Technology continues to evolve, but the creativity and ingenuity behind these older systems still inspire me today. I may be approaching 40, but curiosity doesn’t have an expiration date—and neither does the joy of building something new.
If you’re interested in retro programming, vintage systems, or creative coding experiments, you’re in the right place.
