Welcome to NSXplus!

Mar 5, 2026
Hello everyone! Welcome to NSXplus! Named with my initials and my (future) love of the MSX computers. I am rebranding to do a lot of retro coding which I hope to dev log and open up a youtube channel as well, something along the lines of LGR and 8bitguy but more towards coding 8bit games. It’s still in early stages but I would try to blog all things retro tech as well as my cybersecurity journey.

March update

Mar 2, 2026
Hey guys, will be working on some cool stuff later this year after I set up my new workstation. As of right now, I am learning Evennia, self-teaching myself computer science, and learning Basic C64 and Assembly language. Working on a drug wars type game for the C64 using BASIC. It’ll be called Mirage Wars and it still a work in progress. Hoping to push it out later this month. planning on buying a controller and a flash cart for my c64 soon to test it out on actual hardware

Back to the grind

Feb 25, 2026
I began my passion projects. With a lot of down time at work I was able to get my coding environment up and running for C, C++, C#, Python, and Assembly. I am currently learning 6502/6510 Assembly and looking to make quick roms for both the C64 and NES for learning before I dig into them completely. I am going to be learning C# to work with Monogame and experiment with that.

Passion Projects

Jan 21, 2026
Okay it’s been awhile and I haven’t gotten around to work on my WGU article but I am now officially, Nikki X, M.S. I would like to work towards CISSP but first I want to try to get into academia by parting a part time adjunct faculty teaching intro comp sci classes. I been working on slide decks and doing research in this field and would like to start writing essays on my topic which I will self-published here.

It's been awhile but...

Nov 4, 2025
I graduated with my MS in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance! It’s been such a grind lately and haven’t been blogging as much I wanted to. I’ll get another post regarding my last weeks and how I had to redo the capstone a couple of times and what my topic was. I just started Game Off 2025 using pico-8 and hoping to get started on the actual game soon. I’ll be in Las Vegas for Pokemon Regionals in a few weeks.

Going Byond with Mockinbird

Jun 11, 2025
Some team news for mockinbird.dev since its been awhile but I’m going to pivot the team to a small indie team that works/build games using old tech (and maybe some new depending on the project) such as Byond. I’m still going to have the main focus for mockinbird.dev to be a game jam team so we will be working mostly with RPG Maker and Byond. Our Game Jam tech will now either be RPG Maker or Pico for quick development and used as framework for future projects.

It's been awhile

Jun 4, 2025
Hey everyone, it’s been a couple months since I last blogged but life has been crazy and I’m still job searching! I did pass the D487 Exam and now working on D488. I am 1 exam and 2 essays away from finishing and looking to get that done before October. My plan is to work on D488 by the end of June and start the first paper in July and start my last course in August.

WGU MSCSIA: Week 28: Gotta do a retake

Apr 21, 2025
First retake I gotta do. Sorry for the late post but if I had to guess I was probably just about 3-5 questions away from passing out of 66. D487 has a lot of terms and I will need to study up on them as well as the differences between AGILE/Waterfall. Thankfully I’m still ahead by 2 months. Hoping to do a course once a month but I will try to get a retake scheduled soon and start on D488 next.
